I have been working on a new menu for logged in pages. Here is what I have come up with to be able to use as a template for pages after a user has logged in (this has the menu items for a TRAINER) (It would have to be cloned and changed to display the correct menu items for Basic Users and the Admin account)

As you can see, I am using a page that is “Blank“, instead of using the “Theme Default” (this prevents the normal menu from displaying. (The techs at Elegant Themes gave me this tip).

I created two new sections and saved them to the library.

  1. The first one duplicates the top (with orange background) bar that shows at the top of the page). This could contain the logout link and display who is logged in. “Logged-In Top Bar Template (orange background)”
  2. The second duplicates the menu and logo (with blue background) that displays under the Top Bar. The one I copied includes the menu items that are shown when a Trainer is logged in. This would have to be duplicated and the menu items changed to show the Basic User and again for the Admin user’s pages. “Logged-In Menu Section – Trainer (blue background)

Again, they are both in the Library as a Section that you can get anytime you need a new section.

Now, this is what I came up with. If this looks like it will work, let’s replace the tops of the logged in pages as needed.

Please notice that I decided to remove the sports photos banner from logged in pages. I like it because it looks different than when you are not logged in and it gives more screen room when logged in. I simply add a “Full Width Divider” image to separate the menu and your code on each page.

What do you think?

If you think of a better way, please feel free to do it. I just want to make it look and work better when users are logged in.

PS The other way that the Techs at Elegant Themes suggested was to use a “Full Width Menu” module, but I had trouble getting it to look the way I wanted and didn’t know whether you wanted to set up additional “logged in” menus and select them for the logged in pages. Feel free to look online for info about the Full Width Menu Module.
